CARLOS DE MATHIAS MARTINS JUNIOR

Obtained a degree in industrial engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo and an MBA in Finance from the Columbia Business School in New York.

He is a founder of Ecoinvest, EQAO and Ecopart, major companies in the development of renewable energy projects and the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions. Carlos has worked as an executive, shareholder and board member for various pioneering companies in the energy sector such as Ômega Energia, CDGN CDGN and Energias Renováveis do Brasil (ERB). He is the former Chairman of the Board for CDGN and is currently a Director of the ERB Administrative Board. RICARDO ESPARTA

Responsible for analyzing the technical and political aspects of the UN Climate Summit and worked for the European Union Low-carbon Business Action in Brazil with the team from EQAO.

He is a founder of the Ecoinvest holding company, EQAO and Ecopart, and a member of the global panel of experts who are responsible for reviewing national emission inventories submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) accreditation panel. Responsible for analyzing the technical and political aspects of the UN Climate Summit and worked for the European Union Low-carbon Business Action in Brazil. He has a degree in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, a master’s degree and PhD from the USP Energy Program, and was a researcher at the University of Stuttgart in Germany (1991-1999).

ADRIANO NUNES

Has 30 years of experience as an executive at companies such as Unilever, PwC, Revista Veja, IBM and InterCement.

Over the past 10 years, focusing on the areas of sustainability, innovation, R&D and IT, he has coordinated low carbon programs at leading institutions such as USP, UFMG, MIT, Polytechnique de Lausanne and Superior Técnico de Lisboa. He has participated on boards for Programa Vivenda, Fundación Loma Negra and CIEL (The Buenos Aires Center of Innovation and Strategy for Latin America). He has a degree in Naval Engineering from the Polytechnic School of USP, an MBA from FGV-SP in association with the University of North Carolina, as well as a specialization in Innovation Strategies from INSEAD.

MARCELO FURTADO

Over 30 years of experience in sustainability projects focused on socio-environmental justice, philanthropy and advocacy.

A founding partner, he has over 30 years of experience in sustainability projects focused on socio-environmental justice, philanthropy and advocacy. A member on the boards of the World Resources Institute (WRI) Brazil, Conectas Human Rights and the sustainability committees of Dexco and Marfrig. A former Managing Director for Greenpeace Brazil and coordinator of the Toxic Trade campaign for Greenpeace International. He was the CEO of the Alana Foundation, the Arapyaú Institute and one of the founders of the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture. He is a visiting scholar at the University of Columbia (US), an ambassador at Finance for Biodiversity (F4B) and a Yale World Fellow. He has a degree in chemical engineering from the Mauá Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in renewable energy from the Polytechnic School of USP.

She was the portfolio coordinator for projects, inventories and green bonds at EQAO. KAREN MIDORI NAGAI

She has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Anhembi Morumbi University and Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities.

She is responsible for customer relations with international certification bodies, the Brazilian Panel of Climate Change, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. She performs technical reviews and develops projects with the potential to generate carbon credits, in particular those involving renewable energy and waste treatment. She has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Anhembi Morumbi University and Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities. She also took a specialization course on renewable energy, distributed generation and energy efficiency at the Polytechnic School of the University of SP.

ANDRE LEAL DE SA

Has a degree in economics from the Fluminense Federal University and a master’s degree in energy planning from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ).

He has worked in the decarbonization sector since the launch of the Kyoto Protocol, structuring, verifying, validating and registering carbon credit projects. He was the Organization and Methods Manager for over 200MW at wind farms and small hydroelectric power plants, and was also involved in company mergers and acquisitions in power generation projects. Has a degree in economics from the Fluminense Federal University and a master’s degree in energy planning from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ).

Climate Bonds Initiative Verifier

BlockC is a pioneer in Brazil in issuing these certificates, which are used globally by governments, investors and financial institutions who are interested in making investments that contribute to overcoming climate changes, guaranteeing compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement. CBI was developed by a consortium of institutions including the German Agency for International Cooperation, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Rockefeller Foundation and the European Climate Foundation, as well as major international financial institutions.

São Paulo Environmental Agreement

BlockC is a supporter and active participant of the São Paulo Environmental Agreement, a joint initiative with the State of São Paulo government, which generates over 31% of the Brazilian GDP. The purpose is to encourage companies who operate in the State to accept voluntary commitments to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. Given their prominent role in the initiative, BlockC presented the São Paulo Environmental Agreement at the Brazilian government’s official event during the United Nations Climate Conference in Madrid, COP 25 in 2019, and actively participate in task forces for the initiative.
